Windstorm, heavy rainfall causes panic in north Kashmir parts

Srinagar, July 21: Strong winds and heavy rainfall hit many parts of northern region of Kashmir on Sunday evening triggering panic among the local populace.

Reports reaching GNS said that heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds brought respite from the muggy weather while at the same time added to the worries of farmers, especially fruit growers as the region has witnessed adverse weather conditions several times during past week.

Following the windstorm, power supply in parts of north Kashmir has also been snapped due to the breaking of poles and cables.
However no immediate report of any human loss has been received from anywhere.

Meanwhile reports from Zaingeer area of Sopore suggest that heavy rains followed by windstorm wreaked havoc in area leading to damage to infrastructure and orchards. (GNS)
