“Yesterday it was just a surprise addition to IPL 2018 after Rashik was shortlisted of a among the four players from Jammu and Kashmir who have been inducted in the list, but this evening it turned into happiness” A friend of Rasik Salam said.
Salam caught the eyes of the nation earlier this year after his decent performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was then called for a trial session by Mumbai Indians.
Salam was picked for the senior team despite having least experience in the cricket age bracket.
The feisty youngster debuted against Rajasthan and instantly shone for his team in the very second match against the mighty Tamil Nadu side.
In fact, he took two crucial wickets in the match. Both J&K captain Parvez Rasool and Irfan Pathan, who is currently playing the role of a mentor, later praised him for his sublime performances.
Salam added another feather in his hat in a short time after the addition to the IPL list. There, he finds himself in a company of some of the most prominent and seasoned players.
Now after he was picked by Mumbai Indian team, Rasikh will get to share the dressing team with some of the best players in the world and will play a vital role in shaping up his bright future. The mere fact that the youngster was among 226 Indians from over 1000 entries is a testament of cricket’s bright future in Jammu and Kashmir.
