Top Hizb commander Altaf Kachroo, aide killed in Anantnag encounter

Anatnag: Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, including the outfit’s commander were killed today in a fierce encounter with government forces in Muniward area of this south Kashmir district.

Altaf Ahmad Dar alias Altaf Kachroo, the divisional commander of Hizb in south Kashmir and his aide Umer Rashid were killed in a fierce gun-battle that broke out after government forces launched a cordon and search operation in Muniward area here in the early hours today.

A resident of Hawoora in the neighbouring Kulgam district, Kachroo was A++ category militant.

He is said to have joined militant ranks around seven years ago.

Umer Rashid, a resident of Khudwani is said to be a recruit.
