TJAC to hold silent sit-in in front of civil Secretariat on June 13
Srinagar, Jun 10: A high level meeting of Teachers Joint Action Committee (TJAC) was held at its central office Bemina Srinagar under the chairmanship of Ab. Qayoom Wani, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum.
Teachers Joint Action Committee is the united platform of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum, Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum, Jammu and Kashmir SSA Teachers Association and Tehreek-e-Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum.
In the joint session all the leaders of united platform showed their serious concern on the pathetic condition of SSA teachers, head teachers and RMSA masters.
While speaking in the meeting all the leaders said that unity was the need of the hour and urged upon all the teaching fraternity to exhibit unity at all levels to help the SSA teachers and masters in resolving their legitimate demand of linking of SSA salary to state sector and their legitimate right of releasing salary as per 7th pay commission in their favour.
In the meeting Wani said that debarring SSA teachers and masters from 7th pay commission speaks the volumes of double standard of the people with the helm of affairs.
He said that teachers joint action committee will never accept this step motherly treatment and will fight till the SSA salary will not be delinked and 7th pay commission will not be released in favour of SSA, RMSA teachers and masters.
Although Chairman JK Teachers Forum said that there are positive signals from the Minister for Education Choudhary Zulfikar Ali for redressing this grave issue and we will appreciate if the government will come up with concrete and one time solution to this problem besides releasing of salary of SSA, RMSA teachers and masters before eid.
Wani said that until and unless these issues are not redressed at an earliest teachers joint committee will continue its struggle till success is achieved.
In the meeting all the leaders of the United Platform (TJAC) unanimously decided that top brass of TJAC comprising of selected hundred leaders will organise a silent sit-in protest in front of civil Secretariat on 13th of June at 12 noon for redressal of the problems faced by the SSA teachers.
The leadership also decided to intensify its struggle immediately after Eid-ul-Fitr if government failed to come up to the expectations of SSA, RMSA teachers and masters.
In the meeting Wani hailed the role of leaders of United platform especially Gazi Abdul Aziz, Ganesh Khajuria, Vinod Sharma, Shah Fayaz, Javid Iqbal and Khadim Raza Kargil which they played for unity at this crucial juncture.
In the meeting Abdul Qayoom Wani urged upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba mufti for her personal intervention in this sensitive issue so that teaching fraternity may not be compelled to come on roads. (KNS)
