Srinagar-Jammu highway closed for traffic after rains trigger landslide

Srinagar: Valley on Saturday was cut-off from rest of the world due to the snowfall and incessant rains leading to the closure of the vital Srinagar-Jammu highway.

The 300-km highway, the crucial surface link connecting Valley with the outside world was closed for traffic after heavy rains triggered landslide along the highway in the mountainous Ramban district, officials told Kashmir Reader today.

Beacon, the agency responsible for the maintenance of the highway, they said was making efforts to clear the highway from the landslide and to make it motor-able.

Besides Srinagar-Jammu highway, the snowfall and incessant rains have also forced closure of Srinagar-Leh and Mughal road.
