Second civilian killed in Pulwama clashes
Srinagar, Dec 15: Two civilians were killed and eleven others were injured during clashes in government forces action near gunfight site at Sirnoo area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Saturday.
Official sources told GNS that a large number of people mostly youth pelted stones on forces near the encounter site at Sirnoo village. The forces used tearsmoke shells, pellets and live ammunition to quell the protests.
However, thirteen youths suffered injuries most of them with pellets. Among the injured three youths suffered critical bullet wounds and two of them succumbed to injuries so far.
The deceased civilians were identified as Amir Ahmad Paul of Ashminder and Abid Hussain Lone of Kareemabad.
The other injured are being operated upon in the nearby hospital and some of them were referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.
The clashes erupted soon after the encounter and subsequently the death of three militants spread.
When reports last came in the search operation amid clashes between the protesters and government forces were going on.
Earlier, the encounter broke out after the joint team of army and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation at Sirnoo village today morning. (GNS)
