Arjun Tendulkar has been named in India’s U-19 squad for the Sri Lanka tour. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Thursday, decided to include the 18-year-old for the tour that commences next month.
The all-rounder will be featuring in the two four-day matches which India will play against Sri Lanka. The four-day squad will be led by Delhi stumper-batsman Anuj Rawat, while the One-day squad will be led by Aryan Juyal.
Son of cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun was part of the U-19 camp that was held in Dharamsala last week. As his son trained at the NCA in Dharamsala, Sachin had made it a point to visit the training camp and spent some time with the youngsters. An all-rounder, Arjun has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit for a while now.
His coach and former India international, Subroto Banerjee, had told Sportstar earlier that it is the dedication and hard work that has worked well for Arjun. “He is a hard working cricketer and is always willing to learn. The best thing about him is that you tell him anything and Arjun will make it a point to follow it,” Banerjee had said earlier.
Arjun had initially been a part of Mumbai T20 League too, but later pulled out in a bid to concentrate on his game.
