A protest was held on Srinagar-Jammu highway on Tuesday morning after Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel allegedly thrashed two passers-by in Lethpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Eye witnesses alleged that the CRPF personnel who were part of a convoy thrashed two persons on the highway in Lethpora today morning.
They said that the incident led to a traffic jam following which students who were travelling in their buses towards their schools staged a protest.
The students, according to witnesses, were joined by other people who were present there, leading to a gridlock on the highway.
A witness said that the CRPF troopers beat two students, including a girl. The duo, he said, sustained minor injuries in the beating.
A police official said that the situation was soon brought to normal and traffic movement on the highway was restored.
When contacted, a CRPF spokesman Sanjay Sharma denied the allegations.
