Protest in Manchowa against PDD after 2 Sheep electrocuted
Srinagar, May 11 : Two sheep were electrocuted to death near Manchowa Bagh-e-Mehtab in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, triggering a protest by locals against the Power Development department.
Reports reaching GNS said that two sheep belonging to a nomad family came under severe jolt due to the current from an iron pole in the area.
Expressing concern over the inaction of PDD officials, the locals said that despite bringing the matter to their notice that one of the electric poles’ has damaged insulators, the concerned officials didn’t nothing, until this happened. “Who is going to compensate this poor shepherd,” they said, adding, “What is more important is that who’ll be responsible if God forbid something more serious happens tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, when contacted Chief Engineer Kashmir Division, Hashmat Qazi told GNS that the department will look into the matter and if any ‘negligence’ was proved, “necessary action will be taken.”
“Thanks for bringing it in my notice. The department will see if there has been any negligence on their part,” he said and added that thereafter the necessary action will follow. (GNS)
