Peoples League leaders released from Tihar after 8 years of incarceration
Srinagar, Jun 08: Senior Peoples League leaders including Muhammad Sidiq Ganaie Sopore, Ghulam Jeelani Lallu Sopore and Farooq Ahmad Dagga Kupwara were Friday released from Tihar jail after eight years of incarceration.
The trio after being released visited the martyrs graveyard Eidgah.
Chairman of Peoples League, Advocate Bashir Ahmad Tota who was already present at martyrs’ graveyard welcomed them and participated in the Fateha Khawani.
The statement issued to KNS reads that the Peoples League leaders reiterated to fight for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue and the sacrifices rendered by the people won’t be allowed to go waste at any cost.
Muhammad Sidiq Ganie while speaking on the occasion said that the political detainees at Tihar Jail are facing hardships as they are being lodged with those who have committed crimes. “The detainees are being harassed by those who are criminals and are also being deprived of proper treatment,” he said.
On the occasion, Peoples League Chairman welcomed the leaders and demanded immediate release of other detainees including Massarat Aalam, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Raja Mehraj-ud-din, Syeda Assiya Andrabi, Fahmeeda Sofi and others. (KNS)
