High-speed mobile Internet service remained suspended in central Kashmir’s Budgam district for third straight day on Tuesday, drawing flak from the residents.
The service was suspended on Sunday following a scuffle between two groups of Shia community in Magam area of the district over the management of a mosque.
“It is unfortunate that the district administration is putting entire population to inconvenience because of an unfortunate incident in Magam. My business runs because of the Internet. By blocking the Internet, they (authorities) are depriving us of our livelihood,” said a businessman.
The students and various job aspirants voiced similar concerns. “Wehave to apply online for various job openings and admissions to various courses. Because of reduced Internet speed, we are not able to do the same,” said a job aspirant.
