Mirwaiz leads Eid prayers at Eidgah Says peace can’t be created in vacuum
Srinagar, Jun 16 : Hurriyat conference (M) chairman, and Jamia Masjid’s head cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday led Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Eidgah here.
Thousands of people including men and women offered Eid prayers there.
The Hurriyat (M) chief threw light on the sacred festival of Muslims on the occasion.
Mirwaiz later tweeted that after eight years, he was able to lead prayers at Eidgah.
“After 8 years of restrictions,was able of to give Khutba and offer Eid Namaz at #Eidgah today.Pray to the almighty that all the Ibadaat of the faithful in holy month of #Ramadhan are accepted and this #Eid we are bestowed with his blessings and bounties,” Mirwaiz tweeted.
He further said that peace cannot be created in a vacuum, Kashmir a political dispute not a law and order issue.
“At #Eidgah after 8 yrs,Peace cannot be created in a vacuum,#Kashmir a political dispute not a law&order issue no military solution possible,AFSPA and black laws need to go,GOI needs to revisit the Vajpayee policy,engagement among three stakeholders the assured way to move forward,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, protesters pelted stones forces after Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.
Forces as per the reports used tear gas canisters to disperse the youth. (KNS)
