Srinagar: Militants Wednesday evening offered gun salute to their slain companion Liyaqat Ahmad Lone at his native village Harwan Sopore in north Kashmir.

A group of two to three militants appeared in Harwan village of Sopore and fired several rounds in air to pay tributes to their slain companion Liyaqat son of Late Ghulam Mahidin Lone, local sources said.

Liyaqat was killed along with his associate Furqan Rashid, a resident of Langate village in a gunfight with government forces at Galoora village of Handwara on Tuesday.
