Kashmir traders protest in Srinagar demanding revocation of ban on Jama’at, dismissal of Art 35-A petition

Srinagar: Kashmiri trade bodies on Tuesday held a protest demonstration in Srinagar against the Home Ministry’s ban on Jama’at-e-Islami and the recent amendments in Article 35-A.
Representatives of various trade bodies including Kashmir Economic Alliance, The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK), and Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation, All Kashmir transporters welfare Association and other traders bodies held a protest holding placards and banners demanding dismissal of the petition challenging Article 35A.
The leotesters also demanded revocation of ban on Jama’at e Islami and release of political prisoners.
“Recently the Home Ministry of India has banned the Jammat- I- Islami which is not only a religious organization but has been working mainly for the welfare of the society.
“The Article 35A is the identity of the Jammu and Kashmir people. The people are ready to safeguard 35A with their blood,”he said.
