Srinagar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was Saturday sworn-in as the 22nd Prime Minister of the country at the President House in Islamabad, reports said.
Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath to Imran Khan. Before the ceremony, Pakistan’s national anthem was played out.
Clad in a black sherwani, the prime minister-elect arrived at the Aiwan-e-Sadr (the President House) in Islamabad from his Banigala residence.
The ceremony commenced with the Pak national anthem, followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.
Imran Khan, who led the Pakistan cricket team to their only World Cup victory in 1992, assumed the prime ministerial post after more than two decades, since joining politics in 1996.
The members of the 1992 winning squad also attended the swearing-in ceremony. From India, former cricketer and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, who arrived in Pakistan yesterday, graced the ceremony.
