Grenade hurled at Congress leader’s residence in Tral

Militants on Friday evening hurled a grenade at the residence of Congress leader in Monghama village of Tral township in Pulwama district, police said.

SP Awantipora  Mohammed Zahid Malik told Greater Kashmir the grenade was hurled at the residence of Congress leader Surinder Singh Channi, in Monghama Tral at 6:15 pm. 

The grenade landed inside the compound of the house and exploded without causing any loss of life or damage, he said.

“We have cordoned off the area to nab the attackers,” said SP.

Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles and J&K police rushed to the spot and conducted searches to nab the assailants. The searches were going on when this report was being filed.
