Gayle becomes fastest to 4000 runs in Indian T20 League
Chris Gayle has added another record to his illustrious Indian T20 League by becoming the fastest to 4000 runs. Gayle had needed six runs before the match between his team Punjab and Rajasthan in Jaipur. Two singles and a boundary enabled the West Indian to reach the landmark in his 112th innings. The swashbuckling batsman holds numerous other records as well in the league. His six hundreds are the most by any batsman in the league’s history. His 292 hits over the fence also take spot as far as most sixes in the league are concerned. Gayle has the highest score in the league. His 175 for Bangalore against Pune in April 2013 takes the cake. In the same match, the mighty West Indian hit 17 sixes, not surprisingly the most in any match in the league’s history. And last but not the least, his 154 runs in terms of fours and sixes – again in the same match, is the most any batsman has managed in one inning. No doubt, Gayle’s feat is an auspicious start to Punjab’s bid to win their maiden Indian T20 League.
