The weekly congregational prayers at the central mosque in downtown Srinagar were barred for the second consecutive day on Friday.
Authorities had imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar city including Nowhatta where the historic Jamia Masjid is located.
“For the 2nd consecutive week mandatory Friday Prayers barred at #JamaMasjid Srinagar by the ruling regime. Restrictions Imposed in #ShareKhaas, People caged in homes, leadership either under #HouseArrest or jailed under PSA,” said Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Twitter.
Mirwaiz, who addresses the faithful at the mosque every Friday, was placed under house detention last evening.
