Shopian: Five civilians were injured in Shopian’s Sugan village after government forces fired live ammunition and pellets on protesters.
Doctors at Pulwama hospital said that two persons with bullet injuries and two with pellet injuries were brought to hospital. They said the duo has firearm injuries in legs. Another civilian with bullet injury was brought to district hospital Shopian.
Clashes between people and forces broke out after restrictions were laid by forces to stop mourners from reaching the slain commander Zeenat-ul-Islam’s native village.
Early mornig, army soldiers gheroed the area where funeral prayers of the slain militant was to be held. Also, restrictions were placed around the village to limit number of mourners.
