Fire guts five residential houses in north Kashmir’s Sopore

Five residential houses were gutted in a fire incident in Chankhan area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s district Baramulla, official said on Wednesday.

An official said that fire first broke out at the residential house of Khazir Muhammad Malla early today and then spread to other four houses in the vicinity.


He said the other houses gutted in the fire incident belonged to Bashir Ahmad Malla, Abdul Rashid Malla, late Muhammad Maqbool Malla and Ghulam Nabi Malla.

The official said that the fire tenders with help of locals doused the fire and prevented it from spreading to other houses. The cause of the fire, he said, is believed to be short circuit.

Reports said that property worth lacs of rupees was completely destroyed in the fire incident.
