New Delhi, June 17: The Centre today announced an end to the Ramzan ceasefire in Jammu & Kashmir.
The home ministry tweeted today saying the Centre has decided against extending the ceasefire which began during Ramzan.
The ministry added that security operations against militants will now resume.
As part of the Ramzan initiative, security forces were asked not to launch counter-militant operations in built-up, residential areas of J&K. However, the forces did reserve the right to hit back if attacked, or where specific intelligence on Pakistan-backed terrorists was received.
