4 policemen killed in Quetta IED blast; TTP claims responsibility

Srinagar: At least four police personnel were killed and 12 others, including some policemen, wounded in a blast near a mosque in the Satellite Town area of the provincial capital Monday night.

The explosion was carried out through an improvised explosive device planted in a motorcycle parked on the roadside, Express Tribune quoting police said.

According to sources, a police vehicle deputed outside a mosque was also damaged in the blast.

The injured, which included both civilians and security officials, were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Police, Frontier Corps and other law enforcement forces arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to arrest the culprits.

The blast comes two days after a terrorist attack on Pearl Continental Hotel, Gwadar in which five people were killed.

The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the motorcycle bomb blast targeting the police vehicle.
