BSNL Extends Sunday Free Calling Offer for Another Three Months On Popular Demand

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited or BSNLhas pulled back its decision to stop free Sunday voice calling on its broadband and landline plans. On Saturday, the company has issued a statement on the same saying that the decision is made due to popular demand from its broadband customers. That said, BSNL will be offering free voice calls on Sundays with landline/combo/FTTH broadband plans for another three months. But sadly, it’s just three months extension, and the company will stop Sunday free calling after the said period.

For the unknown, a few weeks back BSNL said that it would be stopping free unlimited voice calling on Sundays with its broadband/landline plans. And the decision backfired as consumers expressed their disappointment on the same. This decision came right after the company’s announcement of revising the free unlimited night calling timings from 9 PM to 7 AM to 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM.

“BSNL is happy to announce that Sunday Free Calling Facility from BSNL Landline to any other phone, any other operator, which was suppose to be closed wef 1.2.2018, will continue to be FREE for another Three Months. This decision is taken after considering popular demand from all corners of this country and from all strata of society,” said BSNL in a statement.

BSNL introduced the Sunday free voice calling offer back on August 21, 2016, to add more consumers on board. But the company wasn’t able to add many new customers. In fact, in the past two years, BSNL’s broadband subscriber base is reduced when compared to other broadband players such as Airtel.

The state-run telco made the decision of stopping free Sunday voice calls after witnessing a sudden decline in usage of voice calling on broadband and landline plans. After withdrawing the Sunday free calling offer, BSNL revised its premium broadband plans above Rs 1,400 and started offering 24 hours voice calling without any limit.
