Massive searches launched in Kund forests, locals allege thrashing by forces

Government forces on Wednesday continued to search the forest area of Kund Nowbug in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

The search operation was launched after two to three militants were believed to have escaped into Masnad forests after the gunfight.

Kashmir police chief Muneer Khan last night said that the operation has been suspended and would be resumed in the morning.

“This is a forest area and we will resume the operation in the morning to get to the other militants who are hiding there,” Khan told Greater Kashmir.

Meanwhile, locals alleged that forces ransacked their property and thrashed them during the search operation.

People in large numbers had taken to streets and pelted stones on the forces to disrupt the operation in Kund yesterday.
