The militant killed in a gunfight with government forces in Nowbug Kund village of Devsar in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district belonged to Hizb ul Mujahideen, police said.
An official identified as Muzamil Ahmad of Badroo Yaripora in Kulgam district.
The slain militant, he said, was a B. Tech pass-out and was associated with Hizb.
“He was active for past over three-and-a-half years,” said the official.
A soldier was also killed in the gunfight and two others, including a policeman, injured in the gunfight that erupted in Nowbug Kund early today.
