Authorities  restore internet after students dissatisfaction

Srinagar, Nov 14 (GNS): Hours after GNS carried ban on internet severely affecting students, the authorities restored the services in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.

Scores of people, mainly students called GNS office to express their gratitude for highlighting the grievances. They also hailed prompt action by authorities in realizing the severe impact on the students’ due to internet gag.

Earlier in the day GNS carried a story as to how barring of internet services in north Kashmir areas, resulted in huge inconvenience to student community who are busy with various examinations.

The internet was snapped after the killing of two militants in Kupwara who hailed from neighbouring Baramulla district last evening.

Students from Handwara, Kupwara, Sopore and Palhallan made scores of calls to news agency GNS and had complained about the inconveniences they are facing due to snapping of Internet since last evening.

The students had said the government on the pretext of maintaining law and order puts entire population to inconvenience by scuttling communication.

“The government surprisingly snapped Internet services in Kupwara and Handwara areas which are totally peaceful this time. We urge authorities to kindly restore all modes of Internet services as soon as possible,” the students had demanded.

Meanwhile, people from south Kashmir especially students urged authorities to restore the internet in the south Kashmir. (GNS)
