Srinagar, Jan 09 (KNS): After remaining under detention for six months, the authorities on Monday released Hurriyat (G) Chief spokesman, Ayaz Akbar.
Sources told KNS that Akbar was released in this afternoon from Raj Bagh Police Station.
Pertinently, Akbar was arrested six months ago and was lodged at Parimpora wherefrom he was shifted to Srinagar’s central jail following which he was shifted to G Os mess Humhama.
However, the authorities on Sep 19 slapped Public Safety Act (PSA) on him and shifted him to Kot Balwal jail in Jammu.
The High Court later quashed his detention and directed police to release him.
Soon after the HC orders, the authorities released and re-arrested him in no time and was lodged at JIC Jammu.
Meanwhile, Akbar on Jan 07 was brought back from JIC Jammu to Srinagar and was lodged at Police station Rajbagh wherefrom he was released in this afternoon. (KNS)
