Light-motor vehicles would be allowed to move on the Jammu-Srinagar highway tomorrow, officials said.

The highway remained closed for vehicular traffic for the third consecutive day today due to heavy rains and snowfall on Friday.
As per communication from Traffic Police, Light Motor Vehicles would be allowed to ply tomorrow on both sides between Jammu and Srinagar.

However, trucks and other Heavy Motor Vehicles would be allowed to move only from Jammu to Kashmir. “No HMV will b allowed to move towards Jammu from Kashmir,” said an official.

Meanwhile, hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides of Jawahar Tunnel were allowed to move towards Jammu and Srinagar.

“150 LMVs were also allowed to move from Quazigund towards Jammu,” said the official.

“700 trucks and 250 Kashmir-bound passenger vehicles crossed the Jawahar Tunnel till 5 pm,” he said. GK
