Though most of the Valley areas received season’s first snowfall, the authorities on Friday failed to press men and machinery to clear the snow on roads thereby putting the lives of commuters at risk.
With the non-clearance of snow on roads, the commuters across Srinagar especially in the commercial Hub Lal Chowk had to face tremendous hardships due to frequent slips.
The pedestrians on the roads were also seen helping the commuters by pushing their vehicles to continue to movement.
“It is unfortunate that the authorities failed to clear accumulated snow on the roads thereby resulted in the sufferings to the commuters,” Javaid Ahmad, one among the pedestrians who was seen pushing a vehicle said, adding that the authorities have made no preparations to clear the snow from the vital areas here.
The commuters said that the department is subjecting the commuters to face hardships. “We don’t understand what department is doing. They are acting as mute spectators as they have not started their work to clear the accumulated snow on roads,” commuters said. RK
