Shabbir Hussain, by donating blood generously, has saved more than a hundred lives in the last thirty years across the Kashmir valley.
Moreover, the 50-year-old has mobilised 2,100 blood donors who have volunteered to make donations as and when any emergency arises.
Hussain feels that it is the duty of every healthy person to donate blood. “I want to donate blood till the end of my life. We would anyway provide first aid services during Moharram processions,” he says.
He feels that God gifted him with the blood group of universal donors, O+, and that is enough reason for him to serve humanity. “When there was no mobile connectivity in Kashmir, I would wait for radio announcements by hospitals seeking blood,” Hussain beams with pride. He is a life member of Red Cross.
