Kashmiri youth wave anti-Islamic State banners

In a departure from the past, Kashmiri youth waved banners against the Islamic State last week in Nowhatta, Srinagar — the same place infamous for waving pro-ISIS flags.

A group of masked men waved the banner on top of a building, showing an IS commander with the outfit’s black flag. The banner, written in Urdu, read: “Allah does not permit us to wage jihad against Israel,” followed by, “Does Allah allow you to bomb mosques?”

After waving the flag in full sight, they soon disappeared

This is an unusual incident for downtown Srinagar, which witnesses clashes and stone-pelting incidents almost every Friday. Pakistani flags, Lashkar flags and pro-ISIS flags are commonly seen in these zones.
